We have been looking at magnetism in science. Please can you write down everything you know about magnets. Can you think of ten ways in which magnets are used in everyday life?

You can post on the blog or can complete on paper.

  1. This is all I can remember from our school lessons: There are two sides on a magnet North and South and if you try to put north and north together they will repel but if you put north and south together they will attract.Magnets are used on fridges so when you close the door it attracts and closes shut. They are also used at schools and at offices also there are magnets you put on paper on bulletins. They also use them in hospitals like the MRI scanners,I just remembered magnets attract to steel but no other metal.

    1. I got two more: They can be on your wardrobe ( its on one of mine) and you can play a game called Magnext. They also have them at the bottom of chess pieces, and there is one in cranes.

  3. What I know about magnets is that the only magnet that is magnetic is iron. The only reason that steel is magnetic is because it has iron in it.(1) You can have magnets on your fridge.(2) You can use a magnet when you what to pick up steel.(3)You can use a magnet inside a radio(4) You can use magnets in a crane when you want to pick steel and iron objects.(5) You can use magnets on your wardrobe door.(6)You can use a magnet when you are testing if a material is magnetic.(7)You can use a magnet when you playing with magnets and trying yo make a shape with magnets.( I do that.)(8)You can use magnet when you are in math.(9)You can use magnets in some office draws.(10) You can use magnets in some chess pieces.

  5. I know that magnets have two sides south and north, south and south repel but north and south attract. The only metal that is magnetic is iron. You can use magnets to stick things on your fridge or you can use them to pick things that are steel because steel has iron in it.

  6. I know that magnets are made of Iron and steel is magnetic as well because it is made of Iron. Magnets stick to metal objects, the more powerful they are the stronger they stick. There are North and South sides to each magnet,It's a fact that North and South would stick together because they attract each other but South and South and North and North will repel each other.

These are the objects around my house which uses magnetism:
    -the frame around fridge door
    -building game called Magnatex
    -fridge magnets
    -puzzle game called Magna puzzle
    -paper clip holder.
    -spot light
    -cooker knobs
    -metal bed frame
    -tin can
    -heater
    -frame around looking glasess
